In the past a lot of our parents got married when they were very young like 17 - 21, but these days, even when there is more education and even when some of us are doing well financially, people still find it hard to get married early, waiting to be 35 - 40. The age of couples getting married in Nigeria now is increasing but it is not mainly due to poverty.

Those are the good old days. If you are financially ok, then there's no need to delay your marriage. Another thing is that our parents were more easily disposed to marrying strangers than their friends. But one need to marry when he's young and not when he's old cos it would cause problems in the long run
