It is high time the president did the right thing about the Niger Delta by sending the navy to control the madness in the area. There has been enough time for tolerance for the region since the time of Obasanjo, but it seems that oil bunkering, kidnapping and crime has been increasing. It even reached the time that the militants have started asking our oil investors to leave. If they leave, how will Nigeria survive? Niger Deltans should not be selfish and understand that Nigerian would be wiling to go to war when our very source f survival is threatened. Ordinarily, Obasanjo did not want to go to full scale war with them and preferred dialogue, since after the Biafran war, he understood that it is better to tak than fight, when you consider the human casualties. But it appears that rebellion is growing in this region unchecked and Yaradua, after seeing this, would not chicken out as president and commander in chief. Now in a time of global recession, dwindling oil revenues and unsure if our budget would be met half-way, we have to make do with any little income we can get. I think making the militants understand that it is no longer business as usual is the right thing to do. The president has to protect Nigeria's interest as a whole and not just a particular thing. Bunkering is a criminal offence and militancy only amounts to treason against the Federal republic of Nigeria.
