Ekiti state appears to be the most popular state in Nigeria now due to the unending focus of the media on the events in teh state so far. Two major parties, the AC and the PDP are set in a lock of horns over who rules the state. AC had won the case it went to the courts to seek redress for and the court had ordered the PDP governor to step down as he did not validly win the election. Now again, on saturday when INEC went to repeat the election, results in major cities in Ekiti are yet to come in or elections had not been held in some places due to violence. The state had been leaning towards the warm embrace of the Action congress but the ruling PDP has sworn not to let it go by as it did when they lost a governor in Edo state. But all the AC governors who won elections in their state had gone to support their fellow colleague, Fayemi who is challenging the former PDP governor, Oni.
Iwu, the INEC chariman has said that the results are not ready yet and some INEC officials may have resigned. There were cases of violence and missing ballot boxes and people have been injured. Why won't the two parties let peace reign. I mean, Yaradua should ensure that policemen and the army protect people and officials when elections are being held. When will the final results be released? AC already has 11,000 valid votes in it's favour from the previous election.
