I was just experimenting with my HiTV DECODER and saw that i could insert my flash drive into a socket on the item. later on i looked at the remote and tried to see if there was a way i could open the flash file and play some of my mp3 files, however i saw the recording tools. Before you start to record on this HiTV decoder, you will need to have inserted the flash drive first and then click on PVR button. Then you edit the recording time and click the red button to start recording. When it starts to record, you will not be able to change the channel or use any other button until you remove the drive. When you must have finished recording on the device, you can the nunplug your flash and connect it to your computer to view the files. you will see the video files there which are in dvd format or .ts. Only a dvd software will be able to open this file and allow you to watch what you have recorded.
You could use Cyberlink DVD to play the file.
The HiTV decoder is unlike the DSTV decoder as it does not have it's own memory and does not allow channel changing when recording. However the dstv decoder would not allow you to copy files into your external flash drive as it only stores it on the decoder. When your subscription expires, you will not be able to watch saved files until you renew it
